City of Charlotte Fire station No. 40
ESP is provided construction materials testing and special inspection services for the new City of Charlotte Fire Station Number 40 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The project consisted of site development and the construction of a 12,000-square-foot fire station with shallow foundations, a slab-on-grade, masonry and insulated concrete form (ICF) walls and a structural steel roof system. Site improvements included parking and drive areas, associated infrastructure, a modular block retaining wall and a permanent detention basin.

The project also required the widening of more than ΒΌ miles of NCDOT roadway. ESP provided construction materials testing and special inspection services including subgrade evaluations, testing of fill soils, foundation evaluations, reinforcing steel inspection, concrete testing and inspection, masonry testing and inspection, structural steel weld and bolt inspection and stone and asphalt density testing with NCDOT certified personnel.
