Ranlo Dump Site
Following discovery of a debris filled drainage feature on undeveloped industrial property being cleared for development, ESP performed an assessment identifying petroleum, metals and pesticide impact within the debris and underlying soils. The debris originated from a textile mill located in the area. After numerous discussions with NCDENR on appropriate divisional regulatory oversight, ESP performed a detailed soil quality assessment with findings documented in a Comprehensive Site Assessment report.

Approximately 2,300 tons of impacted debris and soil were then excavated and transported off-site for permitted disposal at a municipal solid waste landfill. Following the receipt of acceptable post-excavation confirmatory soil sampling results, ESP prepared a Soil Closure Report requesting NFA. NCDENR's Hazardous Waste Section agreed with ESP's findings and issued an NFA for the incident.
